Alexandra

I've been interested in movement and dance since I can remember. It was always my way of coming 'home' back to myself in this cerebral & fast paced world we find ourselves inhabiting. I've followed this interest in study and practice, pursuing a depth of knowledge across varied disciplines.

I often find my dance study can provide a critical perspective in my remedial work. I continue to hone anatomically qualified massage and acupuncture skills into my work alongside osteopaths and chiropractors.

Yoga began as a spiritual practice but its popularity blossomed as a way of promoting physical and mental well-being with studies finding a distinct link between practicing yoga and a better functioning immune system. I’ve run movement classes for 30+years and yoga classes for the last 8 years now focusing on 1–1 or 1–2 sessions only.

The third part to my repertoire is holistic wellness, which encompasses all aspects of being a human being - mind, body & spirit.  I studied it to bring my skill sets in balance and harmony. I attune to clients psyche because simply put – repairing and improving the body is most effectively influenced by the mind.

I find the disciplines combined, a unique and very effective treatment approach. I focus on sourcing from each of them where beneficial for a more 360° approach to solving physical issues and a better balanced psyche and body.

My Journey

In 1996 I gained a diploma in anatomy, physiology and body massage. My interest in manual therapies then led to diplomas in Reflexology, Indian Head Massage, Reiki Healing, Thai Yoga Massage and Metaphysical Counselling. I worked alongside other practitioners and therapists in clinics and hospitals including Great Ormond Street. I balanced my remedial work with dance instruction and gained a BA Hons degree in Contemporary Choreography. Bolstering my practical work I attained a diploma in Sports Massage which serves my marathon runners, dancers, yoga enthusiasts, other Sports Masseurs and those with a more sedentary lifestyle client base.
